Do you realize that without light, our universe would crumble to oblivion?
Close your eyes for a moment. What do you truly perceive?
Our minds scramble to conjure familiar images, but in the darkness behind closed lids, nothing emerges—just a void. I wonder how many of you ever ponder the significance of light, but for me, it’s nothing short of astonishing and a spiritual enlightenment.
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.

Physical science is fascinating
Light reflecting off an object enters through the cornea, the outer transparent layer, and then passes through the middle layer known as the Aqueous humor, followed by the lens and vitreous humor, ultimately projecting onto the retina. Once this information reaches the brain, it transfigures into images.
Make a mental note of the word “Transfigure”. I will circle back to it shortly, so pay attention—it’s crucial. This quick explanation is just the tip of the iceberg. Remember the word “Transfigure.” It’s truly amazing.
Now the scriptural part
I delved into various chapters from the Bible about light. I was struck by just how vividly it paints the picture of illumination. Considering the “Living Light” in Genesis, it seems throughout the New Testament as well. Did you catch that? I deliberately transformed “Light” into the “ Living Light.” Stick around, and I’ll reveal why I’ve dubbed it the “Living Light.”
Let’s read Genesis 1:3-5. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”
Have you ever contemplated the magnificent array of other lights that sprang forth in that divine moment? Deeper into Genesis, beginning with verse 14, we uncover extraordinary lights. These lights are designed to rule the heavens. Each one is unique and radiant. They are set apart from the “Living Light.” And let us not forget the stars. God thrust them into existence as well. They illuminate the vast cosmos with their brilliance and wonder.
Yet today, my obsession revolves around that very first light. God commanded it into being while HIS spirit hovered over the waters.
John 1:1-4 reveals that In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John has been pretty clear and consistent about Jesus. HE is the light. John has come into this world to bear his witness.
I believe that John 1:6-9 is relevant too. “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.” That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
Who is being talked about in Verse 9 that says “That was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world”. You are absolutely correct if you said or thought of Jesus. Yes. Jesus is that light that John came to bear witness of.
And, Jesus boldly declared in John 8:12 that “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Anyone who follow HIM will bask in the brilliant light of life. This isn’t just about living in illumination during our brief time here. It’s an invitation to live a profound existence in this life. It is also a call to embrace an eternity beyond.
Remember, at the start of my message, I asked all of you to note the word “Transfigure”. Here is the reason why.
Let’s read Matthew 17:1-2 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
The eyes of Peter, James and John saw Jesus as the “Living Light”.
You are questioning what we just uncovered has to do with the workings of the physical eye. But hold on, I’m about to drop one more scripture that’ll close this message with a punch.
Let’s read Matthew 6:22-23 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Are you understanding the depth of it?
Eye is the lamp of the body. What we see around us and in this world affects the light that is within is.
A child enters this world with brilliance. Yet, the path the child forges through life will dictate their future. They will either embrace the Great Living Light or descend into shadows.
From Genesis to Revelation, every flicker of existence is a testament to Jesus, the Living Light. Each person birthed into this realm carries it within. It’s this “Living Light” that defies darkness, illuminating our way.
If only we dare to listen,
If we truly hear and are vigilant,
If we witness this light morphing before our very eyes,
Our existence would be overflowing with radiance.
Darkness would vanish entirely.
The scripture boldly asserts that when the Light shines
darkness is utterly powerless.
It can’t grasp or overcome it.
