Easter Echo

The Mourning turned into Morning of the Eternal Son
The Mourning turned into Morning of the Eternal Son

The echo of his words, which brought salvation to his people, resonates powerfully even 2000 years later.

Let us meditate on something profoundly significant: the most thrilling and blessed words of all time. The real question is, do we truly recognize their impact?

John 19:30 says :
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished!” With that he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Question that we have in front of us is:

What is finished? What is ‘IT’ that Jesus is referring to? What is ‘IT’ that is so important that needs to be finished. Why did Jesus have to die for ‘IT’.

So, Let me ask you

What’s the most exciting thing in your life, or maybe the most important or the most blessed? Is it your life, your marriage, your children, or that big house you flaunt? Perhaps it’s your car, your education, your wealth, or some priceless possession that you cling to? Think about it: what do you truly believe you’re blessed with? You don’t have to answer that, but I challenge you to seriously consider it.

I am confident that we are all excited about the many blessings in our lives. The most important truth we can hold onto are those three powerful words, ‘It is Finished.’ This is a done deal; nothing is left undone. Everything is finished for us now and forever. Our sins are forgiven. Our pain is gone. Our sickness is healed. Every desire we cherish is fulfilled, and each blessing we seek is available to us.

When Jesus proclaimed “It is Finished,” death was irrevocably defeated in that instant. Our triumph over sin and Satan is now absolute.

Do you know the meaning of Jesus? It means “Savior”. Isn’t this the most exciting news that our Savior died on the cross so that our sins are forgiven. Isn’t that a blessing that he came into this world to save and free us from sin and Satan.

Jesus said that “It is Finished”. Now for a second, let’s think about what if he would not have said “It is finished”.

We will be sacrificing bulls and goats year after year to wash away our sins. It’s in the Bible. I will show you later on. But Jesus had to say these words “It is finished” because Matthew, Mark and Luke talks about a verse and I am sure you know the verse that goes like this “Heaven and Earth will pass away but my words will never pass away”. This is the reason that he had to say it. He needed to make sure that both Heaven and Earth make a note of it so that no matter what in Heaven and on Earth, our victory over sin and Satan in complete.

  • If he would not have died on the cross for our sins, we would be sinner now.
  • If he would not have shed blood on that cross, we would be bleeding now.
  • If he would not have gone thru the pain on that cross, we would be in pain now.
  • If he would not have gone thru the agony on that cross, we would be agonizing now.

By his blood we are saved, by his broken body we are saved, by his finished work on that cross, we have a new beginning, a new life, a new happiness, a new joy, a new blessing each and every day of our lives.Question is do we realize it.

We all know that the sight of cross is full of pain, agony and suffering but unless we feel his pain in our hearts we can never fully understand “It is finished”, unless we understand his love in our hearts, we can never understand “It is finished”. Unless we understand that our journey to the Father is thru Jesus Christ , we can never understand ‘ What is finished’. His name means “Savior”. It’s not our work but His finished work on that cross that laid the path of our journey to heaven and eternal life.

Let’s say we are working very hard to make a living, to provide the best we can to our family. And when everything is going great, we think we have pulled it together, we know that we can do anything in our lives, all of sudden something strange happens, we lose our jobs, our family is in bondage of sickness, there is no hope, we are losing our wealth, our friends are leaving us because we are no fun and it has come to that hour when we are standing with nothing just the way we came into this world, empty handed. Then someone comes along, see our suffering and call us brother, lend a helping hand, tell us about his Father, suffer with us, support us along the way, carries our burden on his shoulder and promise us never to leave us and forsake us and then give us everything that he has. After all of this, he says that we don’t have to worry about it anymore since what he has given us is guaranteed unto the end of ages, it’s promised forever, it’s finished.

We always wonder how Jesus bore our sins on that cross. Often times it becomes very difficult to understand.

What is finished? Why it is finished? What was the need? Why did Jesus have to do it?

I’m excited to share my thoughts with you all, and I truly believe you’ll find value in what I’ve written! I’ll also provide some Biblical references and insightful answers to the questions I’ve pondered.

Hebrews Chapter 10:1-18 talks about it. So let’s answer our own questions.

What is finished? (Hebrew 10:7 talks about it that “Then I said, “Here I am – it is written about me in the scroll – I have come to do your will, my God. The will of God to free mankind from sins forever.)

Why it is finished?
Hebrew 10:17 talks about it that “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. Sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

What was the need?
Hebrew 10:4 talks about it that “It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins”. And if you read verses 1 to 3, it says that sacrifices were repeated endlessly year after year by the priest and still cannot completely wash away sins of mankind. The sacrifices were done as annual reminders.

Why did Jesus have to do it?
Because he is the only one who was of Holy Spirit born to virgin Mary. He was not born of sinful flesh. He was planned by God and Matthew 1:21 talks about him as Savior saving people from their sins. According to John 4:34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. According to John 17:4 Jesus brought glory on earth by finishing the work God, his Father, gave him

I hope and pray for all of us to realize the beauty of “It is finished”.
That we realize that our journey to heaven and eternal life is thru Jesus.
That we realize that victory over sin and Satan is complete.
That we realize that Heaven and Earth will pass away

but “It is finished” is eternal.
That we realize that blessing is in the offering

that he offered himself on the cross for you and me.
